אמנות שנוגעת במקומות שהמילים לא מגיעות אליהם
יש אמנים שהיצירה עבורם היא שפה ראשונית. אצל יולי דורף זו כמעט נשימה. כבר בילדותה בברית המועצות המורה לאמנות העמידה את עבודותיה כדוגמה לדיוק, רגש והבנה טבעית של קומפוזיציה. כשהגיעה לארץ ב-1991, בחרה להעמיק במגמת גרפיקה ואמנות בתיכון גוטמן בנתניה, אך כמו אצל רבים, החיים הובילו לפסק זמן מהציור.
הצורך ליצור לא נעלם, אלא מצא לו נתיבים אחרים. יולי פנתה לעיצוב גרפי, בהמשך לעיצוב פנים, והיצירתיות שלה נשפכה דרך צבעי המסך, צורות, חללים ותנועה גרפית. אבל משהו עמוק יותר היה שם, מחכה לרגע הנכון.
הרגע הזה הגיע כששגרת החיים נרגעה מעט והילדים גדלו. יולי חזרה למכחול, הפעם אל צבעי שמן. עבודותיה נעו בין אבסטרקט לסוריאליזם, מלאות עולמות פנימיים, צבע, תנועה ורבדים של משמעות.
אחרי אירועי 7 באוקטובר קרה משהו. היד נעצרה. המכחול שעד אז היה גשר בין הלב והחומר, פשוט הפסיק להגיב. היה צורך עצום להוציא, לשחרר, לנשום בתוך הכאב, אבל הציור כבר לא הצליח להכיל את זה.
מתוך החיפוש הזה הגיע החומר. בהתחלה בטון ושעווה, אחר כך ניסיונות חצי טכניים שחיפשו דרך חדשה. ואז הגעגוע ליצירה פגש חומר שלא הכירה קודם: דאס, חימר שמתייבש באוויר. החומר הפשוט לכאורה פתח לה שער שלא היה אפשר לפתוח בצורה אחרת.
אליו הצטרפו גבס, רשתות וחוטי מתכת. שכבות של חומר, נפש, טקסטורה, ורצון עמוק לדבר בלי מילים.
כך נולדה שפה חדשה. יולי יוצרת מתוך מגע ישיר עם החומר, כמעט כמו דיאלוג בין היד לבין מה שהלב מבקש לומר. מגבלות החומר פוגשות את רוחב הרגש, ושניהם יחד יוצרים יצירה שיש בה עומק, נוכחות ותנועה קפואה.
הצופה מוזמן להרגיש. החומר הנוקשה מקבל חיים, והפיסול האבסטרקטי מצליח לגעת במקומות שהמילים מורכבות מדי בשבילם.
יולי מגדירה זאת כפריצה של מסגרת. ניסיון לתת צורה למה שאי אפשר למסור בשום דרך אחרת. לעצור רגע, להקפיא תנועה, ולגרום לחומר לנוע דווקא כשהוא קשיח. זהו מסע של רגש, שכבות, וחשיפת הלב דרך חומרי גלם שהופכים לנימים.
היצירה של יולי כבר הספיקה להגיע לשלוש תערוכות מרגשות:

ולאחרונה נרשם הישג מרשים. עבודותיה נשלחו לתחרות בין לאומית וזכו במקום שני, כשמקום ראשון כלל לא הוענק. זה מספר הכול.
יולי דורף היא אמנית של אמת. כזו שיודעת להקשיב למקומות שבין השקט לצעקה, ולתת להם חומר, צורה וחיים. יצירה שמבקשת לא רק להציג אמנות, אלא לפתוח לבבות

Art That Touches What Words Cannot Reach
Some artists carry creativity as a first language. For Yuli Dorf, art is almost a form of breath. Already as a child in the former Soviet Union, her art teacher would present her drawings as examples of precision, sensitivity and a natural understanding of composition. When she arrived in Israel in 1991, she chose to study graphic design and art at Gutman High School in Netanya, yet life led her for a time away from painting.
The need to create never disappeared it simply found other paths. Yuli turned to graphic design, and later interior design, letting her creativity flow through color, form, space and motion. But something deeper was still waiting, quietly.
That moment resurfaced when life softened and her children grew older. Yuli returned to painting, this time with oil colors. Her works moved between abstract and surrealism, layered with inner worlds, movement and emotion.
After October seventh, something shifted. Her hand stopped. The brush, which had always been a bridge between her heart and the material, suddenly fell silent. There was a powerful need to release and express, but painting could no longer contain it.
In that search, she found the material itself. At first concrete and wax, then other technical trials that didn’t yet open the doorway she needed. And then, unexpectedly, she discovered a material new to her: DAS, an air-dry clay. This simple material became a key to a new language.
She added plaster, mesh, metal wires and more
layers of matter, emotion, texture and an urgent inner voice.
A new artistic language emerged. Yuli creates through direct contact with the material, almost like a dialogue between the hand and what the heart wants to say. The limitations of the material meet the vastness of the emotion, and together they shape a work filled with presence, depth and frozen movement.
The viewer is invited to feel. Rigid material becomes alive, and the abstract sculpture touches places that words are too narrow to describe.
Yuli sees it as breaking the frame. A wish to give form to the untranslatable. To freeze movement, to stir a solid substance until it speaks. It is a journey through emotion, layers and vulnerability, expressed through materials that become living threads.

Recently she achieved an impressive international milestone: her pieces were submitted to a global competition and won second place with no first place awarded at all. That says everything.
Yuli Dorf is an artist of truth. One who listens to the spaces between silence and outcry, giving them form, substance and life. Her art does not only seek to be seen; it aims to open hearts.
